July 29, 2015: Splendid Lunch at "ALMACEN" with Secretary of Economic Development Aguascalientes State Government. https://tedsogo1996.blogspot.com/2015/07/july-30-2015-american-mcdonnel-douglas.html?m=1 In the plane AA1658 preparing to leave Dallas for Chicago on July 30th 2015, we were suddenly surrounded by white smoke with oily smell. Following the direction, I experienced the emergency slide to get out of the plane for the first time in my life. Some passengers received minor injuries in the evacuation, however all of us arrived safely in Chicago on a different flight. The airline reported that hydraulic fluid leaked into the APU causing smoke in the cabin. Maintenance shall be the first priority !!
