The autumn foliage in Canada is breathtakingly beautiful. The autumn foliage season is just about to begin here. The autumn leaves have just begun to change around my home in Osaka, though it’s still a bit early for the best viewing season....

June 6, 2026: Attended the annual general meeting of the Kansai Waseda IE Alumni Club, held in Osaka. It was a great opportunity to reconnect with fellow alumni living in the Kansai region and enjoy exchanging ideas, experiences, and a wide range of information.  It is truly inspiring to see alumni who are much more senior than I am continuing to play active roles and contribute with such energy and enthusiasm. The meeting was held, as usual, at the Chuo Denki Club, a historic building known for its Italian Renaissance-style architecture and as the place where Panasonic founder Konosuke Matsushita first presented his “Waterworks Philosophy” in 1932. Attached is a photo from June 1982, when I attended this alumni gathering for the first time as a new employee just after graduating from Waseda University and introduced myself to the members. In those days, the event was held at a Chinese restaurant, where participants sat around several round tables and enjoyed informal conversations...

Their breathtaking beauty seems to lift my spirits as we enter a new fiscal year. It has been exactly 30 years since I set my sights beyond engineering, pursued management studies at the Kellogg School of Management, and graduated.
