February 3, 2024: Participated in the Kansai Waseda IE Alumni Club's New Year's greeting exchange meeting, and had a delicious dinner in Osaka. We chatted while eating a course meal of roast beef in a special room of a members-only restaurant with a retro atmosphere. I was greatly inspired by the energetic Waseda seniors.










What is "Kansai Waseda IE Alumni Club" ? (Waseda IE News Letter: July 20, 2020)

The Kansai Waseda IE Alumni Club was established in April 1980 by 26 distinguished executives from the Kansai region who are Waseda University alumni.

Having graduated from Waseda University in 1982, I joined NTN Corporation in Osaka, becoming a member of this club. Beyond fostering camaraderie among fellow Waseda graduates, the club serves as a space where we, once students of the same university, can gather to share experiences and thoughts in various topics including business, even after leaving the workplace.

This club's initiation goes beyond nurturing connections among nostalgic professors, senior, and junior alumni. It provided me, as a new employee 40 years ago, with the opportunity to hear valuable insights and managerial perspectives from esteemed predecessors in a friendly atmosphere. This exposure not only enlightened me as a budding executive but also greatly encouraged me in taking my first steps into society. Today, inspired by the mentorship I received from seniors in the past, I aspire to be a source of encouragement for young graduates working in the Kansai region through alumni gatherings.

Waseda University is dedicated to cultivating leaders who contribute to society. As implied by its school song, we need to promote innovation under the globalization framework, leveraging diversity towards realizing ideals. The Kansai Waseda IE Alumni Club will undoubtedly continue to be a meaningful gathering place, fostering mutual inspiration and warmly welcoming graduates released into society, expected to become great leaders.

May 16, 2024: Participating in “Kenseikan“ Karate practice for the first time in 40 years, and staying overnight at “Wakei Juku”

May 16, 2024: Stayed at "Wakei Juku (和敬塾)," a university dormitory in Tokyo. In the evening, I participated in “Kenseikan (拳誠館)” karate practice at the dojo here for the first time in about 40 years. Although I couldn't move as well as I used to and was exhausted, I was very happy to reunite with so many old friends. I enjoyed drinking until late at a social gathering with friends from Kenseikan, and the next morning, I had breakfast at Wakei Juku. May 18, 2024: The reunion of 1982 graduates from Wakei Juku West Dormitory was held in Roppongi, Tokyo.

June 8, 2024: Kellogg Alumni Club of Japan's tour of the Asahi Beer Museum, followed by dinner in Kita-Shinchi, Osaka

June 8, 2024: Attended the Kellogg Alumni Club of Japan's tour of the Asahi Beer Museum, followed by dinner in Kita-Shinchi, Osaka. I had a wonderful time with the nostalgic Kellogg alumni! The club aims to foster connections among alumni in Japan and enhance the presence of the Kellogg School of Management in the Japanese business community.
