January 31, 2016: A New Year’s gathering of alumni from "Wakei Juku" (和敬塾), the student dormitory I lived in during my university days, was held in Shinsaibashi, Osaka. This year again, it was a lively and well-attended event, bringing together 45 participants from a remarkably wide range of graduating classes, spanning from 1963 to 2020. As in previous years, the after-party was also full of energy, and we all enjoyed a truly wonderful time.

March 13, 2025: Received a letter from Northwestern University, and when I opened it, I found the attached handwritten congratulatory note inside. I was deeply impressed and surprised by how well they keep track of their alumni's achievements despite having so many graduates. I believe the Northwestern Alumni Association (NAA) is an organization with a highly specialized and strong network. I am very happy that NAA in the U.S. found a press release about me in Japan!! Northwestern University fosters a positive learning environment characterized by a strong sense of cooperation and mutual support among students. The university's athletic teams are called the "Wildcats," a nickname chosen to symbolize their fighting spirit.

May 17-18, 2025 Stay at Wakei Juku, a student dormitory in Tokyo

May 18, 2025: Yesterday, I stayed at Wakei Juku, a student dormitory in Tokyo, for the first time in a year, as there was a grand gathering of karate club alumni held at the Main Hall. This morning, I had breakfast in the cafeteria together with the current students. It reminded me once again of how strong and precious the bond is among those who shared the same meals and spent their youthful days together. Last year when I stayed here, breakfast in the cafeteria was bread, but this morning it was rice. Just like in the old days, rice and miso soup were available for unlimited refills. A memorial service for Master Oka, who passed away at the end of last year, was held on May 17th. Despite the rain, 70 alumni of Kenseikan Karate Club attended to honor his memory.
