February 6, 2026: Had a slightly belated New Year’s gathering with my former NTN colleagues at a Chinese restaurant in Osaka. We had a wonderful time sharing a wide range of conversations with familiar faces.






This is a well-known neighborhood Chinese restaurant where everything was inexpensive and delicious. The gyoza, reputed to be the best in Osaka, were especially good.

May 18, 2025: Yesterday, I stayed at Wakei Juku, a student dormitory in Tokyo, for the first time in a year, as there was a grand gathering of karate club alumni held at the Main Hall. This morning, I had breakfast in the cafeteria together with the current students. It reminded me once again of how strong and precious the bond is among those who shared the same meals and spent their youthful days together. Last year when I stayed here, breakfast in the cafeteria was bread, but this morning it was rice. Just like in the old days, rice and miso soup were available for unlimited refills. A memorial service for Master Oka, who passed away at the end of last year, was held on May 17th. Despite the rain, 70 alumni of Kenseikan Karate Club attended to honor his memory.
